How Retro-Optics Got It's Start
My dad, Clay Cameron, started the business back in 1980, when I, Chris Cameron, was just a kid.
 near the Altamont Pass in Livermore, CA.
Since the area was quite isolated, my dad got the brilliant idea that all his buddies who rode at the motorcycle park always seemed to need items  <<< click the picture throughout the day, such as cigarette lighters, sun glasses, baseball caps, snacks such as beef jerkey, candy, and gum, and other handy items. So an idea was born and he started stocking his van with these necessity items and charged a bit 
more for each item for his time and trouble. And, Voila ! -- Presto! The business was launched! 
Today the store is called MotoMart at Carnegie and this was the store my mom and dad created and worked for over 10 years back in the 70's! |
| Back then, my dad was a one-man-and-a-van operation. What an Entrepreneur he was -- way ahead of his time! My dad moved on to bigger and better things, and I joined the company and worked evenings and week-ends stocking the van for my dad. I learned quickly, and soon, while I was still in high school, I began going on sales calls with my dad. |  | |

I sold sunglasses anywhere I could, at malls, at the beach, at schools, at supermarkets, and at fairs and festivals. I did so well, I dropped out of high school and bought my dad out of the company, at the ripe old age of 16! I made enough money that, at the age of 21, I bought my first house. |

| I renamed the company, Retro-Optics, because retro is short for retrospective which means anything that is older than present day, and Optics means Eyes. Selling designer sunglasses has become one of the most important parts of the business, and I sell more sunglasses at discount prices than any department store or specialty shop. | ||

| Our president, Chris Cameron, has put his own stamp on the business. His vision and business sense has taken this company from a One-Man-and-a-Van company, into what Retro-Optics is today. |
